1) Probability of the card drawn is a card of spade or an Ace is \frac{4}{13}

2) Probability of the card drawn is a black king is \frac{1}{26}

3) Probability of the card drawn is neither jack nor king is \frac{11}{13}

4) Probability of the card drawn is either a king or queen is \frac{2}{13}

Solution:

There are 52 cards in total

Hence, total Outcomes = 52

The probability of an event is given as:

\text {probability }=\frac{\text { number of favorable outcomes }}{\text { total number of outcomes }}

1) Probability of the card drawn is a card of spade or an Ace:

There are 13 cards of spades including one ace and there are 3 more aces.

So, the number of favourable cases = 13 + 3 = 16

\text {probability of getting a card of spade or ace }=\frac{16}{52}=\frac{4}{13}

2) Probability of the card drawn is a black king

There are 2 black kings.

So, the number of favourable cases = 2

\text {probability of getting a card of black king }=\frac{2}{52}=\frac{1}{26}

3) Probability of the card drawn is neither jack nor king

There are 4 jacks and 4 kings

So, the number of cards which are neither jacks nor kings  = 52 - (4 + 4) = 44

P\left(\text {getting a card which is neither a jack nor a king)}=\frac{44}{52}=\frac{11}{13}\right.

4) Probability of the card drawn is either a king or queen

There are 4 kings and 4 queens.

So, the number of cards which are either kings or queens  = 4 + 4 = 8

P\left(\text {getting a card which is either a king or a queen)}=\frac{8}{52}=\frac{2}{13}\right.
