The COP of Carnot heat pump is given as

n=T_high/(T_high-T_low )=(heat supplied)/(Heat supplied-heat loss)

Plugging the values in the above equation

300/(300-270)=Q/(Q-40)

Q=44.44 kW

Now the power required to operate the heat pump

Power=Heat supplied-Heat loss

P=44.44-40=4.44 kW

Therefore the power required is 4.44 kW
