Answer :

  • Carpenter worked for 12 hours.

Given :

  • A carpenter charged ₹5000 for making a bed
  • The cost of materials used is ₹1400
  • Labours charges are ₹300/hr

To find :

  • How many hours did the carpenter work

Solution :

  • Let the carpenter work for hour be x

Given , labour charges is ₹300/hr then,

  • Total labour charge is 300x

Now ,

  • Carpenter charged for making a bed = Cost of materials + Total labour charge

》5000 = 1400 + 300x

》300x = 5000 - 1400

》300x = 3600

》x = 3600/300

》x = 12

》12 hours

Hence , Carpenter worked for 12 hours.

Verification :

  • x = 12 hours

》5000 = 1400 + 300x

》5000 = 1400 + 300(12)

》5000 = 1400 + 3600

》5000 = 5000

Hence , Verified.

QUESTION:

A carpenter charged ₹5000 for making a bed . The cost of materials used is ₹1400 and the labour charges are ₹300/ hr . For how many hours did the carpenter work?

GIVEN:

A carpenter charged ₹5000 for making a bed

The cost of materials used is ₹1400 and the labour

charges are ₹300/ hr .

R.T.F:

Number of hours took for him to complete his work

SOLUTION:

Let the carpenter's work per hour be x

Then his labour charge= 300 x

Now,

Total labour charge+cost of materials used = carpenter charged for making a bed

300x+1400=5000 \\ 300x = 5000- 1400 \\ 300x = 3600 \\ x = 12

Hope this helps you☺️
