Length of carpet = 5 m

Breadth of carpet = 2 m

Area of carpet (Area of rectangle) = length × breadth

= 5 m 2 m

= 500 cm 200 cm

= 100000 cm²

Length of blue portion in carpet : 500 - 25 - 25

= 500 - (25 + 25)

= 500 - 50

= 450 cm

Breadth of blue portion in carpet : 200 - 25 - 25

= 200 - (25 + 25)

= 200 - 50

= 150 cm

Area of blue portion (Area of rectangle for blue portion) = length × breadth

= 450 × 150

= 67500 cm²

Now,

Area of red portion : Total area of carpet - Area of blue portion

Substitute the known values in above formula

= 100000 - 67500

= 32500 cm²

We have to find the ratio of red portion to the blue portion of carpet.

So,

Red : Blue

→ 32500 : 67500

13 : 27

Ratio of red portion to blue portion of carpet is 13:27

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

length = 5m = 500 cm

breadth = 2m =200 cm

Area of carpet

length × breadth = 500 × 200

=100000 cm^2

now length and breadth of blue portion

length = 500 - 25 - 25 = 450 cm

breadth = 200 - 25 - 25 = 150 cm

  • area of blue portion

area = 450 × 150

area = 67500 cm^2

Area of red portion

=area of whole carpet - area of blue

portion.

= 100000 - 67500 = 32500 cm^2

Required ratio of areas of red portion

to blue portion is

32500 : 67500

325 : 675

13 : 27
