To find:

Magnitude of displacement from Centre to the front edge  

Solution:

As per ASA property and considering the above referred diagram,

\Delta \mathrm{BEC} \cong \triangle \mathrm{DFC}

So, CF = EC (As corresponding parts of congruent triangles are congruent)

and AE = EC  (Reflection property)

Hence, we can say that \mathrm{AE}=\mathrm{EC}=\mathrm{CF}=\frac{2}{3}

So, \mathrm{AB}^{2}=\mathrm{AE}^{2}+\mathrm{BE}^{2}

\begin{array}{l}{=\left(\frac{2}{3}\right)^{2}+(2)^{2}} \\ \\ {=\frac{4}{9}+4} \\ \\ {=\frac{40}{9}} \\ \\ {=\frac{2}{3} \sqrt{10} \text { units }}\end{array}
