A cart has to be pulled harder during the start of motion than later.Explain.

It is because the force of friction . When an object is at rest , the irregularities of the object and surface interlocks themselves with each other and thus , to move the object , we need to apply more force but as the object starts moving , the two surfaces do not get time to interlock themselves and thus , the object moves smoothly

. Static friction has more friction so that we have more force .
