company earns a profit of Rs. 9 per bag of white cement sold

and company earns a loss of Rs. 5 per bag of grey cement sold.

Let the number of white cement bags = x

A/C to question,

neither profit nor loss. means, total profit earned by white cement bags = total loss earned by grey cement bags.

also number of grey cement bags is sold = 5400

so, total loss earned by grey cement bags = 5400 × 5 = 27000 Rs.

∴ 27000 Rs. = total profit earned by white cement bags

27000 = 9x ⇒ x = 3000

hence, number of white cement bags = 3000

According to the question the profit earned by the company by selling per bag of white cement is Rs 9 and loss incurred for per bag of Grey cement is Rs 5.

Also it is mentioned that the company has sold 5400 of Grey bags.

So total loss of the company is Rs (5400 x 5) = 27000.

So the number of bags of white cement the company should sell in order to have neither profit no loss is equal to:

27000 / 9 = 3000 [Ans]
