A certain elevator has a maximum weight capacity of 1,000 kilograms. Ten people weighing a total of 7,000 hectograms get on the elevator. How much more weight can the elevator hold before it reaches its maximum capacity?

Given :

  • Elevator capacity = 1000 Kg

  • Weight on elevator = 7000 Hg = 700 kg

Solution :

If we subtract weight of people from elevator capacity then we can find the weight which we can add that the elevator hold before it reaches it's Maximum capacity

1000 Kg - 700 Kg = 300 kg

300 Kg or 3000 Hg ( Hectogram ) weight can be added on the lift.
