Let the number be x

When the number increased by 5, the number becomes x + 5

One half of the number = \dfrac{1}{2}(x + 5)

Two fifth of the number reduced from 85 = \dfrac{2}{5}(85 - x)

According to the question,

\dfrac{1}{2}(x + 5) = \dfrac{2}{5}(85 - x)

➾ x - 5 = \dfrac{4}{5} × (85 - x)

➾ x - 5 = 68 - \dfrac{4}{5}x

➾ 5x - 25 = 340 - 4x

➾ 5x + 4x = 340 + 25

➾ 9x = 365

➾ x = \dfrac{365}{9}

➾ x = 40.56 (approx.)

∴ The number is 40.56

here is your answer OK

let the number be x

so the number increase so (x+5)

in given one half of result value so
...1/2(x+5).....1)

and again given two fifth so 2/5(x+5)......2)

so its equal 1 and 2

1/2(x+5)= 2/5(x+5)

5x+25= 340-4x

so 9x = 315

X = 315/9

x= 35 answer OK.......
