A certain sample of cuprous sulphide is found to have composition cu1.8s because of incorporation of cu2+ ions in the lattice. What is the mole percentage of cu2+ in total copper content in this crystal?

● Explanation-
Molecular formula of pure compound with Cu+ is Cu2S.
Due to impurity of Cu2+ molecular formula becomes Cu1.8S.

Total loss of Copper = 2-1.8 = 0.2 mol

% of Cu2+ in total copper content = 0.2/1.8 × 100 = 11.11 %

Mole percentage of Cu2+ in total copper content is 11.11 % .
