Concept

Simple interest is value that one receives after lending  a principal amount on a certain rate for a time period.

The formula of SI = (P×R×T)/100 , where P,R,T are Principle amount , rate of interest and time period respectively.

Given

A certain sum at 4% simple interest pr annum becomes RS.3,136 in 3 years.

Find

The Sum or the principal amount which was lended 3 years ago.

Solution

According to formula

A=P(1+R/100)^N

3136 = P(1+4/100)^3

3136 = P(36/25)^3

3136x15625 = 46656P

P= 1050.24 Rs.

The sum or Principle amount is 1050.24 Rs.
