A certain sum of money has been divided into two parts in the ratio 9: 13. If the second part is rs.260 find the total amount

Let the ratio be 9x and 13x

13x = 260
x = 260/13 = 20

Therefore total amount = 9x+13x = 22x
22*20 = Rs 440

A certain sum of money has been divided into two parts in the ratio 9 :13
let it be 9x and 13x
second part is 260

so 13x=260
x=20

the same way 9x =9*20=180

hence it is 180:260

total amount =260+180
= 440 rupees
