A certain train is 125 m long. It passes a man, running at 5 km/hr in the same direction in which the train is going. It takes the train 10 s to cross the man completely. Then the speed of the train is:
A) 60 km/h
B) 66 km/h
C) 50 km/h
D) 55 km/h

Answer:

50 km/hr

train is 125 m long

therefore,

125/10

=12.5 m/s

or

45 km/hr

but the speed of the train is not that as

it is the relative speed of train in correspondence to man

that is,

relative speed= speed of train- speed of man

45= speed of train -5

45+5= speed of train

speed of train=50 km/hr
