A certain wave is described mathematically by y(x,t) = 25cos(4.2x – 18.8t), where the distance is measured in metres and time is measured in seconds. Calculate the speed of this wave, in units of m/s. Give your answer to 1 decimal place:

5 m/s
25.0 m/s
4.5 m/s
4.2 m/s

actually wave equation
y=Asin (2pi/lemdax -2pi/T.t)
now compare this equation to above
given equation
we find
2pi/lemda=4.2
lemda=2pi/4.2
and 2pi/T=18.8
T=2pi/18.8
because wave speed=lemda/T
so, wave speed=2pi.(18.8)/2pi. (4.2)
=4.5m/sec(aprox)
