Given:

  • 5C charge is placed at centre of Gaussian surface of radius 5cm.

To find:

Flux through surface ?

Calculation:

Let the flux be \phi

 \phi = E \times s

  • E is field intensity and s is surface area.

 \implies \phi =  \dfrac{kq}{ {r}^{2} }  \times 4\pi {r}^{2}

 \implies \phi =   \dfrac{q}{4  \pi\epsilon_{0}} \times 4\pi

 \implies \phi =   \dfrac{q}{\epsilon_{0}}

  • Value of \epsilon_{0} is 8.85 × 10^(-12)

 \implies \phi =   \dfrac{5}{8.85 \times  {10}^{ - 12} }

 \implies \phi =   0.56 \times  {10}^{ 12}  \: N {m}^{2} /C

So, flux is 0.56 × 10¹² Nm²/C
