GIVEN

A cheetah is at rest. It accelerates at 4 m s−2 for 20 seconds.

TO FIND

Calculate distance travelled after 20 second.

SOLUTION

  • Initial velocity (u) = 0
  • Acceleration (a) = 4m/
  • Time (t) = 20 s
  • Distance (s) = ?

According to second equation of motion

→ s = ut + ½ at²

→ s = 0*20 + ½ × 4 × (20)²

→ s = 0 + 2 × 400

→ s = 800 m

Hence, distance travelled after 20s is. 800m
