speed = 1m / sec
time = 25 sec
so distance = speed × time
= 1 × 25
= 25 m

height of bridge = 23 m
so current position of stone = 23 - 25 m
= (-2) m
so position of stone is 2 m below water level

Concept:

This question requires the knowledge of Kinematics.

We need to know that

Distance = speed × time

Given:

The height of the bridge on which the child is standing is 23m.

Time after which we need to find the distance= 25 s

The speed with which the stone travels = 1 m/s

To find:

We need to find the position of the stone after 25 s

Solution:

We know that

distance = speed × time

where,

Speed, v = 1 m/s

Time, t = 25 s

Distance is s

Therefore

s = v × t

⇒s = 1 × 25

⇒s = 25 m

Therefore the position of the stone is 25 m below.

But, we know that the bridge is 23 m above the bridge.

Therefore,

The actual position of the stone (P)=height of the bridge from the river - s

⇒P = 23-25 = -2m

Therefore we can say that the position of the stone is 2 m below the river surface.
