(a) Thalassemia is an inherited blood disorder characterised by less oxygen-carrying protein (haemoglobin) and fewer red blood cells in the body than normal.
(b) Mother is not blamed for developing a sick baby because it is not confirmed without test that who is the carrier for the disease that baby is suffering from. So, singely the mother is not blamed for that may be the father is the carrier for the disease.
