For a mother with blood group A, while formation of egg via meiosis, one of the egg would have 'A' factor and other will have O( i.e., absence of either A or B.)
Similarly while formation of sperm in father with AB group, the one of the sperms formed post meisosis will have 'A' factor and other will have 'B'.
On zygote formation, the permutations available would be - AA, AB, AO and BO. so the child will either have A, B or AB blood group.
