Look at the figure given below:-

In a circle AB is a chord of 24 cm, its distance from centre O is 5cm. We have to find the radius AO.

Applying pythagoras theorem:-

H²= p²+b²

AO²=CO²+AC²

AO²=(5)²+(12)²

AO²=25+144

AO²=169

 \sf \: AO =  \sqrt{169}  = 13

So the length of radius is 13 cm
