Thus the diameter of the smaller circle is 8 cm.

Step-by-step explanation:

As we know that:

Diameter of circle = 8 cm

The formula of area "A" =  π r^2 ( Since r = d / 2)

A =  π (d/2)^2

Area of bigger circle "A" = =  π (d1/2)^2

Area of smaller circle "A" =  π (d2/2)^2

Now

π (d1/2)^2 = π (d'/2)^2

Taking square root on both sides.

(8 / 2) = d' / 2

4 = d' / 2

4 x 2 = d'

d' = 8 cm

Thus the diameter of the smaller circle is 8 cm.
