1. If a bar magnet is brought near the compass needle,
- It will get deflected from its normal position.
- It is because two magnets when brought near each other will either attract or repel each other depending upon the position of their north and south poles.
2. The direction of the needle will change if the switch is put on.
- because when the switch is put on, the circuit will be complete, and the winding wire will turn into an electromagnet.
- so there will be a change in direction of the needle as two magnets interact with each other.
3. If the switch is put off, the circuit will break and the direction of the needle will return back to the normal NORTH-SOUTH position as the effect of the electromagnet is not there.
4. this experiment indicates that :
- when a magnet is brought near a compass, which has a magnetized needle, it will deflect from its normal position.
- It also indicates that when current is passed through a winding wire it becomes an electromagnet and displays the behaviors of a magnet.
