A circular loop carrying a current is placed on a horizontal surface
(current is in the clockwise direction). What is the direction of its
magnetic field at the centre? What is the direction of the magnetic field
at a point outside the surface of the loop?

The direction of the current in the circular current carrying coil is given by the Thumb rule. Direction of magnetic field at centre for the loop carrying current in clockwise direction is perpendicular to the plane and is inward (going into the plane) which is south pole shown in the figure below .

Answer:

Explanation:

we can find direction of magnetic field by right hand rule which states that when current is passed through any circuit the thumb of the right hand shows the direction of voltage(v)  and the force (F) is directed perpendicular to the right hand palm finally fingers of the right hand represents the direction of magnetic field(B) .

when current is in clockwise direction the direction of magnetic field (B) is towards the circuit on the other hand when current is in anticlockwise direction the direction of magnetic field (B) is outwards the circuit.
