Given that height of a pillar = 4.2m.

Given that diameter of a circular pillar d = 1m.

Then the radius of the pillar r = d/2

                                                  = 0.5m.

We know that curved surface area of the pillar = 2pirh

                                                                               = 2 * 22/7 * 0.5 * 4.2

                                                                               = 13.2m^2.

Given that cost of whitewashing per m^2 = 15 rupees.

Then the cost of whitewashing 13.2m^2 = 15 * 13.2

                                                                    = 198.

Therefore the cost of whitewashing the curved surface area of pillar = 198 rupees.

Hope this helps!

given diameter of circular pillar = 1m
so, radius of pillar(r) = 1m/2 = 0.5m
Height of circular pillar (H) = 4.2m

Now, area of curve surface of circular pillar = 2πrh
= 2 × 22/7 × 0.5 × 4.2
= 22 × 0.6 = 13.2 m²

total cost = rate of washing × area of curve surface of circular pillar
= 13.2 × 15
= 198 Rs
