✪ Question : A circus tent is cylindrical up to a height of 3m there it becomes a right circular cone with a max height of 13.5 m. Calculate cost of painting inner side of tent at rate of Rs 2 per m² if radius of base is 14 m.

✪ Solution : Total height of tent = 13.5 m

Height of cylinder = 3 m

Height of cone = 13.5 m - 3 m = 10.5 m

Curved surface area of cylinder

= 2πrh

= 2 × 22/7 × 14 m × 3 m

= 264 m²

Curved surface area of cone

= πrl

= 22/7 × 14 m × slant height

= 44 l

Since, l = √( r² + h² )

l = √( 14² + 10.5² )

l = √306.25 = 17.5 m

Curved surface area of cone

= 44 m × 17.5 m

= 770 m²

Total curved surface area

= 264 m² + 770 m² = 1034 m²

Cost of painting per m² = Rs 2

Cost of painting 1034 m² = 1034 × Rs 2

= Rs 2,068

✪ Answer : Rs 2068
