Let passengers with .5 rup. ticket be x and 1 rup. ticket y.
then:
total no. of passengers = 72 (given)
=> x+y = 72 ----(1)
total money received by conductor is 58.
therefore the total money given by .5 rup. passengers must equal (1/2)x and by 1 rup. passengers y.
=> .5x + y = 58 -----(2)×2
=> x + 2y = 116 ------(2)
subtracting (1) from (2):
x + 2y = 116
(-)x (-)y = (-)72
------------------------

y = 44
x from (1) = 72-44=28
