Given :

  • a closed metal cylindrical container has a base radius of 5 cm and height of 12

To find :

  • find the total surface area of container

Solution :

 \sf{Total \: surface \: area \: of \: container \:  =  \: 2 \pi rh + 2 \pi r^{2} } \\  \\  \implies \sf{2 \times  3.14  \times 5 \times 12 + 2 \times  3.14  \times  {5}^{2} } \\  \\   \implies\sf{6.28 \times 60 + 6.28 \times 25} \\  \\  \implies \sf{376.8 + 157} \\  \\  \implies\boxed{\underline{\sf{533.8}\:m^{2}}}

Extra information :

  • Volume of cylinder = πr²h
  • T.S.A of cylinder = 2πrh + 2πr²
  • Volume of cone = ⅓ πr²h
  • C.S.A of cone = πrl
  • T.S.A of cone = πrl + πr²
  • Volume of cuboid = l × b × h
  • C.S.A of cuboid = 2(l + b)h
  • T.S.A of cuboid = 2(lb + bh + lh)

Given :-

  • Base Radius Of Cylinder = 5cm.

  • Height Of Cylinder = 12cm.

To Find :-

  • Total Surface Area Of Container.

Solution :-

Formula Used :-

2πr(h + r).

Here, Value Of pi = 22/7.

Now, Put the values.

⇒ 2 × 22/7 × 5(12 + 5)

⇒ 2 × 22/7 × 5 × 17.

⇒ 534.2 cm²

Hence, T.S.A Of Cylinder = 534.2 cm² (Approx.)
