A closed wooden box measures externally 8cm long,6 cm broad,4 cm high.if the thickness of the wood is half a cm,find the capacity of the box.

Here is your answer,

We have, 
outer dimensions of the wooden box = 8cm×6cm×4cm
thickness of the wood= 1/2 cm
Inner dimensions of the wood = (8−1/2)cm×(6−1/2)cm×(4−1/2)cm= 7.5cm×5.5cm×3.5cm
And,
Volume of the wood required= Outer volume− inner volume
8×6×4 − 7.5×5.5×3.5
=192 -- 144.37 cm^3
==> 47.63 cm^3
