If the bar magnet is moved quickly towards the coil, the galvanometer deflects in a certain direction because according to Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction, an induced electro motive force is set up.

If the magnet is kept stationary, the galvanometer does not deflect. It stands still

If the magnet is moved away from the coil, the galvanometer again deflects, but in the opposite direction.........
