a coin kept at the base of a jar filled with water appeared raised due to the phenomenon of refraction of light. In this refraction of light when light passes two mediums I.e. glass and water , it slightly bends its path due to which we see the coin raised.

Answer:
the coin appears to be raised due to the refraction of light the coin kept in water which is denser medium and the ray travelling to air medium which is denser medium I.e from above discussion it is clear that light ray travelling from dense to rarer so, the light ray changes it's direction away from normal Therefore, the coin which iß kept in water appears to be raised due to the change in direction away from normal
