if a coin is dropped, then,

distance traversed in ten seconds = 1/2.(g)t^2, which is equal to 50g.

subsituting the distance travelled to find value of velocity just before it strikes the ground (v)

v^2 = 2.g.(50g),

v^2 = 100.g^2

v = (100.g^2)^1/2

or v = 10g, or 98 m/s.
