Given : A company has two departments with 42 and 60 employes .Their average weekly wages are Rs.750 and Rs.400.The standard deviation are 8 and 10 respectively

To Find :  1.Which department has a larger bill ?

2.Which department has larger variability in wages

Solution:

Department A  Employees = 42

Average weekly wages = 750

Total Wages  = 42 * 750   =  31500

Department B  Employees = 60

Average weekly wages = 400

Total Wages  = 60 * 400   =  24000

31500 > 24000

Department A has larger bill than Department B

Department A  Mean = 750

Department A  SD = 8

8/750  =  0.0106

Department B  Mean = 400

Department B  SD =10

10/400  =  0.025

0.025 >  0.0106

department B  has larger variability in wages
