A company office ordered 15 chairs and 5 tables which cost Rs. 12500, then again it ordered 10 more chairs along with 3 tables which cost Rs. 8000. What is the price of one chair and one table?

let x be number of chairs

let y be number of tables

then

15 x+5y=12500---->equation 1

10x+3y=8000------->equation 2

multiply equation 1 with 3 and multiply equation 2 with 5 then

45x+15y=37500------>equation 3

50x+15y=40000------->equation 4

subtract equation 3 from equation 4

then 5x=2500=> x=500

substitute x=500 in equation 1

15*500+5y=12500

5y=5000

y=1000

so cost of one table is 1000 and cost of one chair is 500
