a company reduced the price of an article by 5%.by how much % a retailer must increase the new price to sell the article at the old price.

Let the original price be 100

Therefore 5% reduction will be 95/-

Now for the retailer to sell at 100/- let his percentage increase be x%

then, 95+x%of95= 100

95+ x/100*95=100

9500+95x=100*100

95x=10000-9500

95x=500

x= 500/95

x=5.26%
