=>let the mass of compound be 100g

=>let the mass of compound be 100gNow, According to question

mass of carbon present=54.3g

mass of hydrogen present=9g

mass of oxygen=36.7g

moles of carbon present=54.3/12=4.5

moles of hydrogen present=9/1=9

Mole's of oxygen present =36.7/16=2.4

their ratio=4.5:9:2.4

=2:4:1(approx,by rounding off)

so, empirical formula=C2H4O

empirical mass=24+3+16=43

n=molecular mass/empirical mass

n=88/43

n=2(approx)

molecular formula=n×empirical formula

=2×C2H3O

=C4H8O2

{hope it helps}
