Explanation:

atomic weight of carbon is 12, atomic weight of oxygen is 16 and atomic weight of hydrogen is 1.....

Now as given, compound contains 60%carbon,32%oxygen and [100-(60+32)]=8 % of hydrogen ....

so then, the ratio of numbers of atom of carbon(C),oxygen(O) and hydrogen (H) is,

C:O:H = (60/12) : (32/16) : (8/1)

= 5 : 2 : 8

so, the formula will be C5O2H8 or you can write C5H8O2
