Answer: since compound has equal weights of X and Y so,

Let the weight be a,

So according to question molar mass of the compound is given as 120g so,

a+a=120

2a=120

a=60g

So, moles of X in the compound = 60/30= 2moles and of Y = 60/20= 3moles. So, the required formula will be X2Y3.
