A compound of X and Y has equal mass of them. if their atomic weights are 30 & 20 respectively. molecular formula of that compound: 1. X2Y2K 2. X3Y3 3. X2Y3 4. X3Y2

smartyjeeleepdze4p: its written that only in my book...

It looks life (question mark) they want a compound in which both elements, x and y, have equal atomic weights.

If so, your answer is 3. X2Y3

This is because the mass of X is 30 and Y is 20. There are two X elements giving it's weight in the compound 60. There are 3 Y elements in this compound giving it a weight of 60 as well. This would give them equal masses in this specific compound.

Hope this helps.

smartyjeeleepdze4p: yup...this is correct one...thanks
