a black coloured solid is cupric oxide {cuo}.
it reacts with dill. hcl to form cupric chloride {cucl2} and water.
cuo+hcl--------cucl2+h2o
hence ,
x=cupric oxide{cuo}
y=cupric chloride{cucl2}

The metal oxide in black colour is CuO( Cupric oxide). When CuO reacts with dil. HCl it forms CuCl₂ (Cupric chloride) and water which is a blue – green colored solution.
CuO + dil. HCl → CuCl₂ + H₂O
X = CuO
Y = CuCl2
