A compound X of sodium forms a white powder.it is a contituent of baking powder and is used in some antacid preparations.wen heated X givs out a gas steam.the gas frms a white precipitate with lime wate.wat is the name chem formula for d compound X?also d chem eq for its decompostion on heatin????

the compound x is Baking soda( sodium hydrogen carbonate)
when it is heated , we get sodium carbonate , co2 and water
2NaHCO3 ---> Na2CO3 + CO2 + H2O
the above reaction takes place when baking soda is used in food.since it gives co2 gas , it is used as constituent of baking powder to aerate dough.
