Answer: Volume of the gas released will be  1.66\times 10^{5} mL.

Solution:

Given :

Volume of nitrogen gas :V_1=1.5\times 10^{3}grams=1.5\times 10^{3} mL  (1g = 1mL)

Pressure of nitrogen gas ;P_1=2\times 10^{7}pascal

Volume of nitrogen gas at pressure P_2 = V_2

Pressure of nitrogen gas at volume V_2 = P_2=1.8\times 10^{5} pascals

According to Boyle's law:

P_1V_2=P_2V_2   (at constant temperature)

(2\times 10^{7})(1.5\times 10^{3})=(1.8\times 10^{5})(V_2)

On solving for V_2

V_2=1.66\times 10^{5} mL

Volume of the gas released will be  1.66\times 10^{5} mL

tejadhi1209: The answer is wrong. You can't directly convert gram to mL . use mole concept. The correct answer is 1264 L.
