Given:

Given that, a computer shop basically charges P20 per hour or a fraction of an hour (if he uses computer less than a hour) for the first two hours and an additional P10 per hour to be paid for each succeeding hour.

To find:

We need to represent the computer rental fee using a function R(t), where t is equal to the number of hours or fraction of an hour spent on the computer.

Solution:

Let R(t) be the function which represents the rental fee to be paid.

According to the question, a computer shop charges P20 per hour for the first two hours.

The function will be,

\Rightarrow R(t) = 20t  when  t\leq 2

After 2 hours, the computer shop charges additional P10 per hour.

So, the function will be,

\Rightarrow R(t) = 10(t-2)+40  when  t> 2

Here, 40 is added which is the charge for 2 hours and 10(t-2) represents charge for remaining hours.

Therefore the required functions are,

R(t) = 20t  when  t\leq 2

R(t) = 10(t-2)+40  when  t> 2.
