• A ‘real image’ is a type of image that occurs due to the ‘actual intersection’ of the light rays and therefore can be produced on a screen.  

• A plane mirror and a convex mirror can never produce a real image. A concave mirror however can produce a real image only under one condition.

• If the object whose image is to be produced is placed in a position that is greater than the focal length of the mirror then only a ‘real image’ is formed.  

• The image is inverted and its size depends on the ‘position of the object’ with respect to the ‘centre of curvature’ and the focus of the mirror.
