Given, magnification (m) = -3 [ image is real ]

         object-distance (u) = -10 cm

         image-distance (v) = ?

Now, In a mirror m= -v/u

                             -3 = -v/-10

                   -3 x 10 = v

                              v = -30 cm

So, the object is placed 30 cm in front of the mirror.
