A conical tent is 14m high and the radius of its base is 3 m. Find (i) slant height of the tent. (ii) cost of the canvas required to make the tent, if the cost of 1 m2 canvas is Rs 200. (Assume π=22/7)

Height, h= 14m

Radius, r= 3m

Let the slant height be L. Then,

L^2 = r^2 + h^2

so, L^2 = 3^2+ 14^2

L^2= 9+196

L= 14.31 m

Therefore, the slant height of the tent is 14.31m.

Now,

CSA of tent = πrl= 22/7 × 3 × 14.31 = 134.92 m^2

Hence, cost of canvas= 134.92 × 200= 26984.57 Rs

Approx 26985 Rs.
