A contractor undertakes to dig a canal which is 12 km long in 30 days and employed 80 men. He finds that alter
10 days of working, 3 km of canal have been completed. How many men must now be employed to finish the
work on time?

To dig a canal of 12 km in 10 days, 80 men were required.

So, to dig a canal of 1 km in 1 day,

=80×10/2, men will be required.

So, to dig a canal of 3 km in 20 days

=(800x 3)/20

=120men will be required.

as 80 men were already employed, so 40 more men are required.
