distance of the object from the lens is u=-12cm

distance of the image from from the lens is v=+6cm

from the given data the object is beyond 2f and the image is formed between f and 2f

m= v/u    m= 6/-12

m=-0.5

since magnification is less than one the image is diminished

since the magnification is negative the nature of the image is real and inverted.
