A copper rod of diameter 1cm and length 8cm is drawn into a wire of length 18cm of uniform thickness. Find the thickness of the wire ?

volume needs to be constant:
volume is = Area of cross-section x Length
area is πd²/4
hence d²x length is constant
1²x 8 = d²x18
d = 2/3 cm
