Nitrogen is a non metal of 2nd period and halogen is chlorine. So a covalent compound is NCl3 or nitrogen trichloride.

It is a yellow coloured explosive substance.
It is prepared by reaction of ammonia with excess chlorine.

NH3 + 3Cl2 ------> NCl3 + 3HCl
