it is due to biomagnification-increase in conc. of toxic material at each trophic level of food chain
high conc. of DDT in bird would disturb the calcium metabolism in birds that is lead to thinning of egg shell& premature death of birds which would decline birds population

Population of such bird will decline
Explanation:
- DDT is used as pesticides in fields. This DDT enters the food chain and get accumulated in animals called bioaccumulation.
- When that animal is eaten by other animals of higher trophic level it passes into them and its amount increases in animals living at higher trophic level which is called biomagnification.
- In birds, DDT accumulation leads to disturbance of calcium metabolism. As 5 ppm is high level of DDT therefore it will cause a disturbance in calcium metabolism in crane due to which their eggs will have thicker protective coat of calcium and their chance to break prematurely will increase. This will reduce the crane population.
